Duties
- Greet patients and visitors with enthusiasm and professionalism, creating a welcoming environment
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) system, eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to ensure accurate billing and claims processing
- Schedule appointments accurately using medical scheduling software; handle multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette
- Collect patient information, review documentation for completeness, and update medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with medical billing and collection processes, including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical collection procedures
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure timely patient follow-up
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist in a similar medical office support role; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines for accurate documentation review and billing
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health information management software
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, documentation review, and office management tasks
- Ability to handle high-volume phone calls using multi-line phone systems while maintaining professionalism and courtesy
- Knowledge of dental terminology and dental office procedures is advantageous for dental clinic settings
