Duties
- Assist with the safe handling, lifting, and transportation of deceased individuals using proper manual handling and safe lifting practices
- Support funeral directors and mortuary staff in event coordination, including setup and breakdown of funeral services
- Provide bereavement support to grieving families through compassionate communication and attentive service
- Manage records accurately, including documentation of transportation, storage, and disposition of remains
- Operate vehicles for on-call coverage, ensuring timely transfer of bodies between facilities or to designated locations
- Maintain a clean, organized mortuary environment adhering to health and safety regulations
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing client records, and coordinating event logistics
Qualifications
- Prior experience in funeral & mortuary services or related customer service roles is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong communication skills for working with families, colleagues, and external partners
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and follow safe lifting practices consistently
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for on-call coverage responsibilities
- Experience in event planning or coordination is a plus
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing respectful support during sensitive situations
