First Shift: Monday through Friday; 6:00am to 4:30pm. Fridays may include overtime during the busy season.
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely receipt, verification, and documentation of all inbound materials and products. This role ensures all incoming goods are properly inspected, recorded in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and delivered to the appropriate department or storage area. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment while maintaining Palmer Hamilton’s high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving Operations
- Receive incoming materials, components, and products from vendors and internal transfers.
- Verify incoming shipments for accuracy by comparing packing lists, purchase orders, and delivery documentation.
- Inspect materials for damage or discrepancies and report issues promptly to the Shipping & Receiving Manager.
- Accurately record all received goods in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ensuring realtime data integrity.
- Tag and label incoming materials for identification and traceability.
- Route received items to appropriate departments or designated storage locations.
Documentation & System Accuracy
- Maintain accurate and organized receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and receiving logs.
- Process receiving transactions and inventory adjustments in Business Central.
- Communicate any discrepancies or delays with Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Production teams.
- Support periodic inventory counts and cycle audits to ensure data accuracy.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with Shipping, Inventory Control, and Production to ensure timely flow of materials.
- Assist drivers and carriers with inbound delivery paperwork and direct them to appropriate unloading areas.
- Maintain professional communication with internal departments, vendors, and freight carriers.
Warehouse & Safety
- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving areas, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, reporting hazards or incidents promptly.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Shipping & Receiving Manager or senior management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in a receiving or warehouse role preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP system preferred.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move materials as required (up to 50 lbs).
- Valid driver’s license required; forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
