The Life Sciences Department at Palmer College of Chiropractic invites applications for a part-time faculty position with teaching responsibilities in courses such as Human Physiology and Pathophysiology. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of educators and be responsible for delivering foundational science instruction that supports clinical decision-making and aligns with the college’s mission to advance health through education, research, and service.

Organizational Relationships:
The faculty member reports to the assigned departmental administrator and collaborates with faculty and staff across departments to support Palmer's educational mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Faculty responsibilities encompass the areas of teaching, scholarly activity, service, and student mentorship. Specific duties include:

  • Prepare and deliver lectures and laboratory content in physiology and pathology.
  • Develop and maintain course syllabi, objectives, and materials in accordance with department and institutional standards.
  • Design, administer, and evaluate formative and summative assessments.
  • Maintain appropriate student engagement through office hours and academic advising.
  • Participate in curriculum development, review, and alignment initiatives.
  • Contribute to student assessment activities including practical exams and clinical readiness evaluations.
  • Serve on college committees and participate in departmental meetings and planning.
  • Support the institution’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Comply with all institutional policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by departmental leadership.

Qualifications:

  • A first professional degree is required: DC, MD, DO, or ND from an accredited institution. A Ph. D in an appropriate field of study is also acceptable.
  • A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching human physiology and pathology within graduate and professional programs
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience at a post-secondary institution, preferably in a healthcare related program.
  • Candidates must be eligible for or hold a valid professional license in the State of Florida, if applicable (Doctor of Chiropractic Only).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative academic team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Competence in course design and instructional delivery for health science students.
  • Ability to engage students in active and applied learning experiences.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and learning management systems.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and institutional improvement.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Sedentary to light work in a well-lit, temperature-controlled academic environment.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of light objects (up to 10 lbs).
