Experienced Automotive Technician

Palma’s Auto Repair and Muffler is looking for a full-time, experienced Automotive Technician to join our team in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

We are a family-owned repair shop that works on all makes and models, including domestic, Asian, and European vehicles. We service sedans, coupes, SUVs, pickup trucks, and fleet vehicles, handling everything from regular maintenance to advanced diagnostics and major repairs.

We are looking for a well-rounded technician with at least 4 years of professional experience at an independent repair shop or dealership. Applicants must be comfortable diagnosing complicated vehicle problems as well as performing general automotive repairs. We need someone who can work independently, complete repairs correctly and efficiently, and work alongside other technicians when needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair advanced engine performance, electrical, drivability, HVAC, and emissions-related problems
• Use professional scan tools, diagnostic equipment, wiring diagrams, and service information to identify vehicle problems
• Perform general automotive repairs, including brakes, steering, suspension, exhaust, and wheel-related components
• Inspect vehicles and document diagnostic findings, recommended repairs, and completed work
• Test drive vehicles when necessary to diagnose problems and verify completed repairs
• Communicate with service managers and other technicians regarding repair findings and job progress
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow proper repair procedures

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of professional automotive repair experience at an independent shop or dealership
• Strong experience diagnosing engine performance, electrical, HVAC, emissions, and drivability problems
• Experience working on a variety of domestic, Asian, and European vehicles
• Experience using automotive scan tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair information
• Must own a complete set of personal automotive tools
• Valid driver's license
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to quality workmanship

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE certifications (A1-A9)
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Exhaust welding experience

Work Schedule

• Monday–Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
• Saturday: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting salary of $1,500 per week
• Paid holidays
