Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Review and verify medical records to ensure proper documentation for billing purposes.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collections processes.
- Ensure compliance with all billing regulations and guidelines related to medical coding and billing practices.
- Utilize EMR and EHR systems to input data, track claims status, and update patient information.
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries.
- Maintain organized records of all billing activities for audit purposes.
- Stay current with changes in medical coding standards and billing regulations to ensure accuracy.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related healthcare administrative role.
- Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with medical office operations and experience working with EMR/EHR systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in coding and billing processes.
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately for proper claim submission.
- Knowledge of medical collection procedures and insurance claim management.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting or medical office is preferred.
