SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING. Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Valid Florida Driver’s License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment. Respiratory screen/chest x-ray and Hearing Loss Test required for selected candidate.

Assists with the installation, maintenance, and repairs of force mains, manholes, gravity sewers, meters, water mains, water service lines, valves, fire hydrants, and all other sanitary appurtenances while under the direction of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)-licensed crew members. Installs, repairs, inspects, and tests backflow prevention devices; locates water and wastewater lines; restores sidewalks, roads, and landscaping after completion of repairs. Employee will work in all kinds of weather conditions and is required to work where hazardous conditions exist. May be required to transport equipment as needed. Work is closely reviewed while in progress and upon completion through visual inspection by FDEP-licensed crew members, including Meter Service Technicians, Utility Line Crew Chiefs, and Supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:
Minimum of six (6) months of experience in general labor work.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
The selected candidate for this position must obtain the following:
- A FL Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Permit within six (6) months of hire AND
- A FL Class A CDL License within 12 months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification,
- Valid FL Class A CDL with Combination and Tanker Endorsements, and
- One (1) year of experience in the installation and repair of utility water distribution/wastewater collection systems.
