Specialized technical work enforcing zoning, building, and contractor licensing codes and adhering to appropriate ordinances. Reviews/processes building permit applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable codes. Disseminates building information to the general public, contractors, realtors, and architects. Performs other essential duties in support of departmental objectives. Works under the general supervision of a supervisor. Work is reviewed through conferences, re-inspection of plans or permits, and audits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of one (1) year of experience reviewing and processing planning or zoning applications, plats, and/or building permits,
OR
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of one (1) year of experience working with a government agency,
OR
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; one (1) year of college-level coursework (must specify 30-semester/45-quarter hours).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in real estate,
- International Code Council (ICC) Permit Technician Certification,
- Knowledge of construction terminology and procedures (must specify on application),
- Knowledge of the Palm Beach County (PBC) geographic area (must specify on application),
- Experience with interpreting plans, codes, maps, and other resources for permit review, and
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Drafting, Surveying, or Planning.
