What are the responsibilities and job description for the PAINTER position at Palm Beach County?
Performs journey-level skilled painting and finishing work on interior and exterior building surfaces, fixtures, and mechanical or industrial equipment. Duties include caulking, patching, preparing, and pressure cleaning surfaces to ensure proper application. Mixes and blends paints and coatings, applying them with precision to achieve high-quality finishes. Operates a wide range of equipment such as paint mixers, sanders, paint removers, vacuums, compressed air tools, airless paint sprayers, scaffolds, lifts, and sandblasters, along with various hand tools. Requires demonstrated expertise in paint mixing, blending, and application techniques, as well as adherence to safety standards and proper use of equipment
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of painting experience in the major elements of the trade (e.g., repairing plaster and cement, taping and drywall finishing, pressure cleaning and painting building exteriors, sandblasting, using hydroblasting equipment, applying paint with spray equipment).
PREFERENCE FOR ONE (1) YEAR OF EXPERIENCE: Working with epoxy paint; painting from scaffolding/bucket trucks or lift. Also desirable: two (2) years of experience applying paint with an airless sprayer (must specify on application).
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history prior to appointment. Respiratory screen/chest x-ray and Hearing Loss Test required for selected candidate
