The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing complex accounting activities, preparing accurate financial reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, SOX, and company policies. This role supports the month-end close process, financial analysis, account reconciliations, and internal controls. The Senior Accountant collaborates with cross-functional departments and assists in driving process improvements, cost analysis, and reporting to support the Company's financial health and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals and prepaid expenses.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Prepare balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports.
- Assist with audits (internal, external, and regulatory) by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and company financial policies.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Support inventory accounting, cost analysis, and variance tracking.
- Collaborate with AP, AR, Payroll, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in accounting workflows.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reports for management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (SAGE preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience in manufacturing or consumer packaged goods preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAGE/Oracle/NetSuite) preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, distribution, or related industries strongly preferred.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Work performed primarily in an office environment.
- Occasional extended hours or weekends required to meet reporting deadlines or audit requirements.
Pay Range
$75,000-$100,000
