Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to navigate electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR) systems. The Medical Biller will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our practice by ensuring that all billing processes are executed efficiently.
Duties
- Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid claims to ensure timely payment.
- Review patient records for completeness and accuracy before billing.
- Manage medical collections by contacting patients regarding outstanding balances and setting up payment plans as necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance standards.
- Utilize EMR and EHR systems to document billing information accurately.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or billing information.
- Ensure that all medical records are properly maintained and accessible for audits or reviews.
Experience
- Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or collections is required.
- Familiarity with ICD coding, CPT coding, and medical terminology is essential.
- Experience working with EMR and EHR systems is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills is a must.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare professionals.
