Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process
- Verify patient insurance coverage through insurance verification procedures, including Medicare and other third-party payers
- Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Collect and process payments, including medical collections and billing procedures, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently and taking detailed messages when necessary
- Maintain organized medical records, files, and documentation review to ensure accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with health information management standards
- Assist with intake procedures, including updating patient information, reviewing care plans, and supporting medical administrative support tasks
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting, preferably as a medical receptionist or front desk coordinator
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable
- Familiarity with medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) and billing processes including ICD coding and Medicare claims processing
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally and courteously
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing)
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy clinic environment with strong organizational skills
