Laboratory Technician

Amentum is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Spokane, Washington in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) client. Our ideal candidate is experienced in chemical and physical laboratory testing, interpretation, and data analysis. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively, both independently and as a part of a team in a highly structured working environment, are qualities needed to succeed in this position. Main Responsibilities: Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests, interpret and analyze data, compile results, prepare reports, and present conclusions in a timely manner. Assist with processing biological samples to produce DNA profiles in support of organizational efforts. Provide laboratory subject matter expertise for Research & Development / Test & Evaluation efforts. Data collection and entry for obtaining metrics and maintaining records. Conduct laboratory tests for use in developing standard formulas for experimental procedures. Ensure compliance with laboratory chemical hygiene, bloodborne pathogen, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines / policies. Provide laboratory demonstrations of analytical capabilities and processes. Test all safety equipment on a periodic basis. Prepare reagents, wash dishes, clean laboratory spaces, and operate and maintain all laboratory equipment. Ensure that all chemicals and equipment are stored, serviced, and disposed of properly. Prepare and conduct in-service training events to ensure various staff are knowledgeable of current processes and procedures. Minimum Requirements: Must have an active Secret US Government Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain an Active Top Secret US Government Clearance with SCI eligibility. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Top Secret Clearance. Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry, biology, forensics, or similar field from an accredited college or university At least 2 years of experience conducting laboratory testing and reporting. Professional knowledge of and experience with laboratory safety, laboratory occupational hazards, and OSHA compliance. The ability to utilize standardized scientific literature and develop effective written and oral reports that are clear, accurate, and logical. The ability to keep precise and detailed records for the preparation of technical reports. Experience using Microsoft applications (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Skills and Experience: Active TS/SCI clearance. Five or more years of wet chemistry laboratory experience. Experience with Adobe Photoshop. Prior military or law enforcement experience is a plus. Other Requirements: This is a non-remote, full-time on-site position. Some after-hours or short-term shift work may be required to support urgent customer needs, including weekends and holidays. Occasional travel may be required (0-10%). Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, working at a desk or in the laboratory. Ability to lift various sizes of materials and equipment (up to 50lbs). Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits: This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future. Compensation & Benefits: HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $37.50/hr to $50/hr (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. Benefits to include: Medical, Dental, Vision. 401k. Paid time off (PTO) accrued weekly at 2.31 hours per week.
