The Paducah & Louisville Railway, Inc. is currently hiring in Paducah, KY for the accounting department for a General Accountant. This position is responsible for processing invoices, reconciling accounts and maintaining other relevant data to ensure payments are completed in an efficient, timely and accurate manner in accordance with FRA, AAR, and Company rules, policies and regulations. All necessary safety procedures, guidelines and policies must be adhered to in the performance of the tasks assigned to this position as set forth below. This position is responsible to maintain all employee privacy and confidentiality provisions as required by local, state and federal laws and guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Process payments and control expenses by receiving, verifying and reconciling invoices
- Correspond with customers in a professional manner
- Input, track and retrieve financial data
- Prepare bi-weekly check runs; initiate payments via ACH and check
- Assist in monthly closing processes; including preparation of account reconciliations, journal entries and standard financial reports
- Ensure invoices are properly supported by appropriate documentation prior to payment
- Maintain records by scanning and filing documents
- Provide timely and accurate responses to inquiries; provide clear guidance regarding AP policies and procedures.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve issues
- Maintain supporting data for 1099 reporting and compliance
- Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Business Area preferred
Computer Skills:
Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel advanced skills, and the JD Edwards software package.
Salary : $45,000
