TECHNICAL ENGINEER
Job Description
GENERAL SCOPE
TechnicalEngineer provides critical support across engineering, production, and field service functions. The Technical Engineer ensures that equipment is designed, built, installed and commissioned to meet performance, safety, and reliability standards while also providing technical guidance as needed to the customer. The Technical Engineer will also be heavily involved in R&D projects. Some travel will be required, approximately 15-25%. This position reports to the Director of Technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in the design, development, testing and installation of Hydraulic press brakes, presses and upgrades (PEPs).
- Collaborate with the R&D team to develop, prototype, and test new designs, technologies and product improvements.
- Support customers, service department, production and sales with technical guidance, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, manuals, test documents and service instructions.
- Perform and/or assist with customer installations, commissioning, troubleshooting and service support both onsite and remotely.
- Identify and implement product improvements to enhance safety, performance, and cost.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Create and release engineering BOM's as required.
- Any tasks assigned by the Director of Technology and/or President.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, controls, or industrial engineering.
- 1-3 years of engineering or technical support experience in capital equipment, heavy machinery, or related manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in creating and reading schematics and assembly/part drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Able to read and understand technical documentation, i.e. schematics, spec sheets, manuals, etc.
- General knowledge of electrical controls and their associated function for equipment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with customers.
Skills Preferred:
- Experience with product development, prototyping, and testing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience in multiple automation systems platforms including PLC, HMI, and other applicable systems.
- Experience in Allen Bradley RSLogix, and Factory Talk.
- Ability to interface PLC's, HMI's, and Drives (VFD and Servo).
- Valid Driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Good verbal and written communication for varying audience abilities.
- Programming language experience a plus, i.e. Visual Basic, C , etc.
COMPENSATION
- Onsite Job with travel as necessary
- Base Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 based on candidate experience
- 401k: 4% match
