Job Title: Bookkeeper
Reports To: Finance Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Employment Status: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Organization: Pacific Islander Health Partnership
Position: Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Bookkeeper will primarily handle day-to-day finance and accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payment processing, record-keeping for all donations and donor receipts for tax deductions using QuickBooks Pro Non-Profit Edition software.
Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree in accounting, business, management or finance
• Two years of bookkeeping experience (ideally in the nonprofit sector) • Proven capacity to be self-initiated and detail-oriented in performing financial tasks, analytical in evaluating financial performance, and proactive in strengthening financial and organizational operations.
Desired Qualifications
• Possess a strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and financial processes • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills and be enthusiastic about PIHP’s mission.
• Highly organized, skilled at prioritization and able to independently accomplish daily financial tasks
• Reliable, trustworthy, highly ethical and resourceful in solving problems • Strong QuickBooks Pro experience intermediate to advanced excel skills are highly preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly invoices
• Process accounts payables
• Assemble back-up documentation for grant billings
• Prepare monthly journal entries and adjustments, including supporting documentation and appropriate descriptions
• Create and maintain all files and record for finance department
• Support efforts to improve PIHP’s financial operations and overall health • Actively contributes to a positive and productive work culture
• Perform other duties as assigned
Confidential Information: The Bookkeeper will have access to financial data, proprietary program design and intellectual property and, therefore, must pay particular attention to organizational confidentiality and abiding privacy laws.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak, hear, stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands on the keyboard. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions when driving to and from meetings.
