While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand or sit. The employee is required to use hands to produce records and/or documentation in manual or electronic format. The employee must possess ability to ensure significant communication with the Clinics’ community members. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 10 pounds.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - The initial compensation for this position ranges from $21.00 - $25.83 per hour; depending on experience, location, and internal equity considerations.

Job Summary

The Mental Health Worker II supports the development and implementation of individualized service plans, documents progress, and may serve as a lead support to Mental Health Worker I staff or trainees.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct support to clients through therapeutic activities, behavioral interventions, and skill-building exercises.
- Assists in implementing individualized treatment plans and documents client progress toward goals.
- Participates in intakes, assessments, and team-based case planning as appropriate to program structure.
- Conducts check-ins, wellness calls, and crisis support under clinical supervision.
- Supports clients in navigating resources, attending appointments, and achieving recovery goals.
- Documents services provided in electronic health records in accordance with agency and regulatory guidelines.
- Supports a safe, structured, and inclusive environment across settings.
- Communicates observations and concerns to clinical supervisors and contributes to case discussions.
- May assist in onboarding, guiding, or mentoring newer staff or interns.
- Participates in trainings, team meetings, and supervision to support continuous learning and service quality.

- High School Diploma or GED and four (4) or more years of relevant experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience (two years of relevant experience equals one year of education) to include:
- Three (3) years of experience working with adults experiencing mental illness, trauma, or co-occurring conditions.
- Familiarity with behavioral health documentation, EHR systems, and Medi-Cal standards .
- Experience in residential, outpatient, or field-based mental health programs .
- Current CPR/First Aid and crisis de-escalation certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required depending on setting.
- Demonstrates strong client engagement and interpersonal skills.
- Maintains clear, accurate, and timely documentation.
- Responds to client needs and behavioral escalations with professionalism and composure.
- Understands trauma-informed care and applies it in daily interactions.
- Collaborates with team members and communicates effectively.
- Upholds client confidentiality, safety, and ethical boundaries.
- Applies culturally responsive and equity-centered practices in service delivery.
- Supports clients with compassion, respect, and a strengths-based approach.
- Adapts to changing needs, schedules, and priorities in dynamic settings.
- Models accountability, empathy, and dependability in all tasks.
