Position Overview
Pacific Clinics, California's largest community-based nonprofit provider of behavioral and mental health services, seeks an experienced Controller to direct our accounting operations and develop robust internal controls that safeguard agency assets. This role will help establish and maintain fiscal policies consistent with GAAS while bringing an innovative mindset that blends financial stewardship with operational strategy. The ideal candidate will help ensure our organization remains financially sound while supporting more efficient ways of delivering critical mental health care services across California.
Works within the vision, mission, and philosophy of the agency. This position reports to the Agency's Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for directing and managing all accounting functions of this large multiple entity agency in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards (GAAS) and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting reporting functions. The Corporate Controller is also responsible for supervising staff assigned to the accounting functions and performing other duties as assigned by the CFO.

Pay Range
175,000 - 200,000, bonus eligible
- Initial starting salary for this position ranges from $173,445 - $207,102 annually, depending on experience, location, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities
- Directs, manages and is responsible for all fiscal period accounting (monthly, quarterly, and annual) close functions and related reporting for all Legal Entities.
- Directs, manages and is responsible for best accounting practices of all accounting subsystems, including but not limited to accounts payable, medical claims operations, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll and general accounting functions.
- Directs and manages all entity general ledger fiscal reports including financial statements and all supporting fiscal reports.
- Directs, manages, coordinates and is responsible for all aspects of the entities’ annual audit and preparation of the Agency's annual financial report. Additionally, directs and manages the fiscal audits of all funders' requirements.
- Supervises, manages and directs the work of the organization's accounting staff.
- Directs and coordinates activities of the Accounting department and assist the Chief Financial Officer in developing and administering fiscal organization policies and objectives consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAS) that enforce internal controls that maximize the protection of the Agency's assets.
- Performs other responsibilities, as assigned, to support department and business needs by the CFO.

- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Accounting or Finance
- Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Minimum of five (7) to seven (10) years of related accounting experience
- Proven people leader with five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive team leadership preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)
- Valid California Driver's license with two years experience driving and clean driving record may be required.
- Experience working in healthcare and/or non-profit settings, preferred.
