Position Overview: Meet target volumes of quality biodiesel production while maintaining the facility and effectively communicating status and support needs to the management team.

Main Responsibilities:   

  • Process the material into finished biodiesel adhering to a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Perform quality control measures; document quality control sample tests for chemical and physical characteristics
  • Coordinate with the Production Team Manager
  • Operate and maintain transfer pumps, valves, forklift truck to load and unload various material used in the plant.
  • Understand ‘24/7 production schedule’

Key Requirements:

 Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Professional training in process safety and equipment maintenance a plus.

 Experience and Competencies:

  • Mechanical ability to repair and maintain and/or rebuild equipment.
  • General understanding of processing equipment (valves, pipes, pumps, boiler, etc.).
  • Ability to operate a forklift and qualify for certification.
  • Proficiency with basic computing software (Microsoft office).
  • Proficiency with controlling automated processes with an HMI System.
  • Experience with Production QA/QC.
  • Understanding of environmental hazards management/planning and remediation.
  • Work schedule flexibility; must be able to work days or nights 4, 12-hour shifts per week (schedule is generally 3 days on, 4 days off).
  • Ability to work as a motivated self-starter.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Interest in renewable energy and sustainability preferred.

License and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license is preferred.
  • Forklift Certification (preferred). 
  • OSHA, HazMat certifications (preferred).

 Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work for long period outdoors in ambient temperature and precipitation extremes typical of Hawaii climate.
  • Ability to talk and hear frequently as job involves daily oral communication.
  • Ability to sit, stand, twist, reach, walk, push, pull, work in splayed positions, use of upper and lower extremities to perform maintenance and repair functions, lift and carry 60 pounds - of materials, pumps, heat exchangers and tools, and climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to wear a respirator in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Ability to wear protective equipment on the head, face, hands, and feet, including a welding helmet, respirator, or anything else in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Ability to work in varying noise levels and to wear hearing protection as required.
