Job Overview: The Senior Architect – Finance (SAP S/4HANA RTR) will drive the enterprise design, implementation, and rigorous end-to-end testing of core Record-to-Report (RTR) and Finance/Controlling (FI/CO) solutions. Operating within large-scale business transformation initiatives, this professional serves as a technical leader and strategic gatekeeper. The chosen candidate will ensure that sophisticated corporate financial architectures align cleanly with operational objectives, minimize system risk, and seamlessly scale within strict regulatory and corporate frameworks.
Core Competencies
- SAP S/4HANA Core Expertise: Expert-level configuration capabilities in SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO).
- RTR Workstream Leadership: Proven background managing end-to-end Record-to-Report operational designs, ledger frameworks, and system interdependencies.
- Architecture & Database Mechanics: Deep structural comprehension of the S/4HANA Universal Journal (ACDOCA table structure) and New Asset Accounting.
- Methodology Deployment: Practical mastery of the SAP Activate Implementation Methodology for Fit-to-Standard and Explore phase workshops.
- Enterprise Testing Strategy: Demonstrated capability designing integration, unit, regression, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) blueprints for complex corporate transformations.
- Cross-Module Integrations: Functional understanding of financial touchpoints across adjacent modules, including Materials Management (MM - GR/IR), Sales and Distribution (SD - Revenue Recognition), and Human Resources (HR - Payroll Posting).
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Architecture & Configuration: Design, build, and configure integrated SAP FI/CO architectures to support consistent financial data flow across global regions. Translate business requirements into sustainable, out-of-the-box SAP best practices.
- Workshop Facilitation: Lead Fit-to-Standard / Explore sessions directly with business leads to evaluate system fit, document configuration paths, and minimize custom code variants.
- Advanced Controlling Structure Control: Review, refine, and govern cost center architectures, internal orders, resource planning allocations, assessments, and distribution rules to optimize financial transparency.
- Quality Assurance & Testing Governance: Define comprehensive, reusable test plans for SAP FICO/RTR modules. Coordinate defect triage and remediation cycles, prioritizing resolutions based on downstream financial and operational impact.
- Regulatory & Compliance Alignment: Partner closely with internal controllers, business analysts, and external auditors to guarantee that financial solution architectures and system outputs rigorously comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, internal operational guidelines, and external statutory rules.
- Cutover & Hypercare Execution: Support migration cutover strategies and post go-live validations by defining specific reconciliation checks, verifying opening ledger balances, and stabilizing financial reporting mechanisms.
- Documentation & Technical Mentorship: Produce high-fidelity architectural blue prints, configuration narratives, and traceable test evidence to ease knowledge retention. Provide clear technical mentoring to delivery team members on cost center modeling and structural software deployment.
Technical Depth & Environmental Standards
- Core Technology Stack: SAP S/4HANA Finance, SAP FI/CO (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Asset Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders), Fiori Finance Applications.
- Methodologies & Tools: SAP Activate Methodology, Fiori Apps configuration, Automation Test frameworks, Structured Defect Management practices.
- Data Migration & Integration Frameworks (Preferred): Exposure to Group Reporting, Central Finance, S/4HANA Public Cloud, and legacy migration toolsets (such as LSMW, BAPIs, Syniti, or SAP Data Services).
- Compliance Environment: Must design and validate within environments governed by strict compliance parameters, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) financial reporting controls and data security policies.
Qualifications & Performance Metrics
- Professional Experience: 15 to 18 years of progressive, hands-on experience in SAP FI/CO architecture design, systems execution, and end-to-end integration mapping.
- Delivery Track Record: Verifiable background working within global consulting contexts, Big 4 frameworks, or multinational System Integrators (SIs).
- Communication Metrics: Demonstrated excellence converting highly technical SAP architectural parameters into objective, business-oriented insights for senior financial stakeholders.
