ABOUT PACE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER (BDC)
PACE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER (PACE BDC) promotes the growth and economic expansion of diverse Los Angeles communities through the infusion of capital and the provision of business consultation services and financial literacy training. Housed in the PACE Business Development Center (BDC), the Procurement Team assists small businesses in securing contracts from government agencies and private sector companies. PACE is the only Southern California Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), designated by the U.S. Department of Commerce to promote the growth and global competitiveness of small and minority businesses. PACE is also partnering with Mayor Karen Bass in administering the Citys ProcureLA program, a procurement initiative connecting small and minority businesses to contract opportunities with an emphasis on preparing for the 2028 LA Olympics.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This summer internship program is designed for providing the intern gain a deep understanding
of nonprofit organizations serving the community and engage in practical marketing case studies.
Through working directly with the PACE Business Marketing Team, the intern will play a pivotal
role in elevating our brand visibility and amplifying the success stories of the entrepreneurs and
small business owners we serve.
- Real-World Marketing: Learn how to plan and run marketing campaigns using professional tools like Canva, Constant Contact, and Eventbrite.
- Web Design & Tech: Get hands-on training in website management. PACE will teach you how to use Elementor (WordPress) to redesign and update our official website.
- Nonprofit Insights: Understand how a nonprofit organization connects with and serves diverse communities through communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Team
- Marketing and outreach campaigns
- Analyze and present strategies on how nonprofits like PACE are reaching the communities
- they serve through marketing communications
- Provide logistical and creative support for the planning and execution of PACE Business
- events.
Content Creation:
- Prepare, conduct, and film client interviews to produce a series of short-form vertical video testimonials
Digital Growth
- Assist in the website redesign project, transitioning to the Elementor builder to align with the ProcureLA.com standard.
Outreach & Visibility
- Collaborate with staff on marketing campaigns and projects specifically designed to increase PACEs brand presence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic
- 2 years or more at a college or university program, currently enrolled
Tech Competency
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PPT, Word and Notes)
- Familiarity with basic software programs such as Canva, Constant Contact,
Eventbrite, and Google Analytics. - Knowledge of WordPress is a significant plus
Soft Skills
- Strong understanding of marketing/outreach strategies and a passion for community driven work.
PROGRAM FORMAT
Phase I: Shadowing & Knowledge
- Shadowing various PACE programs
- Understand the ecosystem of business development and client services
- Learn client services workflows and Business Department work processes
Phase II: Execution & Marketing Operations
- Learn the marketing campaigns (Canva, Constant Contact, and Eventbrite)
- Prepare, conduct, and film client interviews to produce a series of short-form video testimonials.
- Assisting in event planning and daily marketing tasks
Phase III: Digital Build and Online Marketing
- Assisting with the pacelabdc.org website redesign project using Elementor (WordPress)
- Support online marketing initiatives and event coordination
- Assisting in event planning and daily marketing tasks
Phase IV: Synthesis & Final Project
- Complete a Final Project Report (PPT) on PACE's brand visibility and community reach
- Deliver a final presentation to the team
- Internship completion ceremony and certificate award
