Pacific Autism Center for Education is currently in search of a Special Education Teacher with Moderate-to-Severe teaching credential or autism authorization. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate that is able to work full time with mod-to-severe autistic students from ages 6 to 22. PACE is a certified non-profit, non-public school that implements a multi-disciplinary team approach, combining therapeutic and educational strategies to optimize the student’s academic and developmental progress. PACE is also independnetly WASC Accredited
As a special education teacher at PACE you will be given the opportunity to work in a team oriented environment which is composed of a teacher, behaviorist, team leader, instructional aides, occupational therapists and speech language pathologist. We are committed to our multi-disciplinary and cutting edge ideology which fosters growth for all individuals involved in the teaching team, as well as, for our students. PACE continues to search for new ideas which could be incorporated to our ever growing and progressive program that we have developed and will continue to develop to better assist our student body population.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop, plan and write students IEPs
- Be Knowledgeable about all student IEP information
- Plan and lead all daily activities to help students achieve their IEP goals
- Write and maintain all information and data collection forms in each students communication and personal information binders
- Perform managerial duties necessary to ensure that Instructional Aid staff follow all policy and procedures, in the class room, as well as, the school as a whole
- Prepare students report cards
- Attend and participate in all required meetings
- Prepare and lead weekly classroom meetings
- Maintain on going communication with each students’ parents
- Write monthly progress notes for each student to be sent to parents.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- California Special Education Credential (Moderate/Severe) or autism authorization. Interns encouraged to also apply.
- Minimum Requirements are BA CBEST Credential Waiver (Must be enrolled in accredited program for special education credentialing for internship possibilities)
- (Preferred) Masters’ Degree in Special Education or related Education Field.
- Experience in working with children with Autsim or related field, or the desire to work in this field.
- Strong organization and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Customer focused approach.
- High degree of flexibility.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment.
- Technologically Savvy
- Occasional travel.
