Government Affairs Manager
Pac/West Strategies is now accepting applications for a Government Affairs Manager. This is an in-person position in Denver, Colorado.
Our firm serves a diverse array of clients, providing support in government affairs, campaign management, and strategic communications projects at the federal, state, and local levels. Qualified candidates will have a foundational knowledge of the political and broader public relations landscape, with experience and extensive knowledge of government processes at the state and federal level. Our projects require driven, detail-oriented individuals with a passion for public policy and communication efforts. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a foundational knowledge and skillset in government affairs and communication efforts within this role.
JOB DETAILS
· Manage or support government affairs and communication project operations for private companies, nonprofits, and other organizations.
· Manage or support daily operations for statewide ballot measure and issue campaigns.
· Effectively coordinate with third party vendors to facilitate operations for clients.
· Support government affairs projects and senior management in a variety of policy areas including but not limited to wildlife management, energy, and infrastructure.
· Oversee and assist tracking and reporting processes on legislative, regulatory, and ballot measure developments in select jurisdictions.
· Prepare correspondence and communications materials for clients including legislative analysis, regulatory overviews, outreach materials, etc.
· Serve as the main point of contact for clients and vendors assigned as project lead.
· Coordinate with project lead and/or support staff to carry out action items on behalf of clients.
· Research and analyze new policy developments to support strategic decision-making efforts.
· Develop political and government affairs strategies, as well as necessary materials to inform client strategy and objectives.
· Facilitate a successful line of communication between multiple entities including federal, state, and local governments.
· Demonstrate effective communication skills to proactively update team members on client activity and strategy.
· Support the training of new employees in the firm’s Government Affairs department, in collaboration with senior management.
· Assist with business development and administrative duties of the firm as assigned.

· Interpersonal skills that enable collaborative working relationships with fellow employees and demonstrate the ability to follow through on projects in a timely manner.
· Ability to develop relationships with key decision makers at the local, state, and federal level.
· Able to receive constructive feedback and make adjustments as needed.
· Confident personality and comfortable working in high-energy, high-pressure, and quick-turnaround situations.
· Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
· 3-5 years of professional experience in government affairs, campaign operations, strategic communications, or adjacent field is preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree in political science, government, international relations, or related field.
· Working knowledge of the federal and state political systems.
· Maintain professional confidentiality standards when working with clients and vendors.
· Some evenings/weekend work as well as overnight travel will be required.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 per year.
