Communications Associate


Pac/West Strategies is now accepting applications for a Communications Associate or Senior Associate. This is an in-person position in Denver, Colorado.


Our firm serves a diverse array of clients, providing communications support including media relations, strategic communications and stakeholder relations, campaign and coalition messaging, crisis communications, and creative design and digital engagement. Qualified candidates will have a foundational knowledge of media relations, with experience or extensive knowledge of communications and marketing, social media management and digital advertising. Our projects require driven, detail-oriented individuals with a passion for communications, marketing, and media relations. Qualified candidates should demonstrate a desire to expand their skillset in communications within this role.



JOB DETAILS

·       Support communications projects and staff in a variety of disciplines.

·       Facilitate a regular line of communication with clients.

·       Prepare correspondence and materials for clients including social media content, press releases, slide decks, and memos.

·       Research and analyze marketing/communications plans and materials.

·       Assist with the development of marketing/communications plans and materials.

·       Assist with media relations and crisis communications.

·       Assist with business development, including client lead development, proposal and presentation material development, and pitch preparation and execution.

·       Demonstrate effective communication skills to update team members on new updates pertaining to client needs.

·       Assist with internal firm communications, marketing, and social media.

·       Assist with administrative duties of the firm as assigned.


SKILL REQUIREMENTS

·       Ability to navigate complex communication challenges.

·       Demonstrate proactive client management skills by anticipating future client needs.

·       Strong understanding of media relations.

·       Strong working knowledge of social media platforms and driving engagement.

·       Prior experience or desire to learn digital advertising and marketing tactics and strategies.

·       Solid understanding of stakeholder outreach and engagement, with the ability to support relationship-building and coordinated communications.

·       Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills are essential.

·       Must have strong knowledge and experience of AP style and copyediting skills.

·       Ability to create visually compelling content.

·       Must be able to think both creatively and analytically.

·       Self-starter that is highly organized, detail-oriented, and willing to ask questions as needed.

·       Possess the ability to initiate projects, multi-task, and operate on quick turnarounds with limited instruction.

·       Interpersonal skills that enable collaborative working relationships with fellow employees and demonstrate the ability to follow through on projects in a timely manner.

·       Able to receive constructive feedback and make adjustments as needed.

·       Confident personality and comfortable working in high-energy, high-pressure, and quick-turnaround situations.

·       Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

·       Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related.

·       A working knowledge of Colorado’s and the federal political systems is an asset.

·       Some evenings/weekend work as well as overnight travel may be required.

·       Must be discreet, professional, and the ability to keep information confidential.

Salary range: $60,000 - $68,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
