What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Manager / Licensed Veterinary Technician position at PAAC-People Assisting Animal Control?
PAAC is a high-volume nonprofit spay/neuter and wellness clinic providing access to veterinary care across South Texas. As we expand operations to seven days a week and off-site surgery locations, we are seeking a Surgery Manager / Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician to oversee two surgical teams and support our growing regional impact.
This is a salaried leadership role for an experienced licensed veterinary technician who combines strong clinical skills with proven operational and staff management experience.
What you will do
• Lead and supervise two high-volume surgery teams operating simultaneously
• Oversee daily surgical operations in-clinic and at outreach locations
• Support expansion efforts, including travel to the Rio Grande Valley
• Work hands-on in surgery as needed
• Ensure safe anesthesia practices, intubation, and patient monitoring
• Maintain high-volume surgical efficiency and quality standards
• Develop and implement SOPs and workflows
• Mentor and supervise surgery staff
• Partner closely with the Operations Manager on staffing and workflow
What we are looking for
• Texas licensed veterinary technician
• Experience managing high-volume spay/neuter surgery clinics
• Proven ability to supervise multiple surgery teams
• Strong anesthesia and leadership skills
• Comfortable in fast-paced, mission-driven environments
• Willingness to travel for off-site surgery and outreach clinics
