Reporting to the Post Harvest Supervisor, the Post Harvest Technician will be responsible for preparing harvested flower products for sale. This includes trimming, weighing, packaging, labeling, and case-packing of prepared flower products. Post-Harvest Technicians will be working with finished flower products, including fresh frozen, fully cured, ground, and kief forms. This position will occasionally assist in the cultivation department, working with uncured flowering cannabis, when workflow requires it.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure strict compliance with regulations, law, and company policy/procedure as it relates to all functions, including, but not limited to preparing and packaging flower for sales
- Accurately weigh, fill, package, and record post-harvest materials; ensuring product is not contaminated
- Responsible for accurately counting, labeling, and case packing units for sale; maintaining production standards
- Responsible for utilizing machinery and hand tools to trim and refine flower products
- Clean equipment/room to maintain required standards; sterilize/sanitize equipment, tables, and racks/shelves
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment
- Ability to strictly follow industry regulations, laws, and company SOPs
- Precision in weighing, filling, labeling, counting, and recording materials
- Demonstrated ability to meet production standards (speed, quality, volume) while maintaining accuracy and compliance
- Comfortable using both machinery and hand tools to trim and refine flower products; able to operate safely and efficiently
- Skilled in cleaning, sterilizing, and sanitizing rooms, equipment, tables, and storage surfaces to maintain required hygiene standards
- Willingness to perform other assigned duties, adapt to shifting priorities, and support the team as operational needs change
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is a labor-intensive position, working in a greenhouse and manufacturing environment. This position is in an environment that frequently has a strong cannabis odor. This position will frequently be in-contact with cannabis in its vegetative, flowering, harvested, cured, and packaged phases. This position has direct exposure to finely ground cannabis product that can irritate airways. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
- Sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time, including crouching and stooping
- Utilize hearing protection equipment and other PPE to maintain safety and compliance
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and leadership through talking and hearing
- Use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- The employee must be physically capable of performing manual labor tasks required for the proper management of cultivation facility, including meeting activity performance metrics, lifting/carrying product totes, pushing carts, moving and adjusting equipment, etc.
- Will be required to wear varying degrees of personal protective equipment for specific tasks (some tasks require partial PPE; some will require full PPE)
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to work in rooms with temperatures averaging 60 - 75 degrees with elevated humidity levels and intense bright lights as well as areas with higher-than-average CO2 levels
- Must be able to work in the dark or altered colored lighting
- The work environment may include exposure to fumes, dust, odors, heights, temperatures, motion, and moderate-to-loud noises
ONBOARDING REQUIREMENTS:
- At Least 18 years of age
- Ability to pass extensive background screenings
- Ability to pass a 9-Panel Drug Screen (NO THC)
- Adhere to company standard operating procedures, including a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement
- Complete a mandatory multi-hour Department of Health certification course
- Complete mandatory annual safety trainings
