Children Personal Care Aid

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children Personal Care Aid to provide exceptional support and care to children with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other special health requirements. In this vital role, you will assist children with daily activities, ensure their safety, and promote their well-being in a nurturing environment. Responsibilities

• Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
• Monitor and observe children's behavior and health status closely, documenting any changes or concerns in accordance with care plans.
• Support children during meal preparation and feeding, accommodating special dietary needs and preferences.
• Facilitate engaging activities that promote development, social interaction, and learning tailored to each child's abilities.
• Use proper patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques, including Hoyer lifts when necessary, to ensure safe movement.
• Administer medication as prescribed under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning duties and ensuring compliance with health standards.
• Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community outings as needed.
• Follow all safety protocols including CPR and first aid procedures to respond effectively in emergencies.
• Respect residents’ rights and privacy while supporting their individual care plans within assisted living or home health settings.

Skills

• Proven experience working with children with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or intellectual disabilities.
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer's care strategies.
• Familiarity with care plans, medication administration, HIPAA compliance, and patient personal care assistance.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper manual handling techniques; experience working with Hoyer lifts is a plus.
• Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within caregiving environments.
• Experience providing home & community care or long-term care services in settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
• Competence in assisting with ADLs including grooming, mobility support, meal prep, and personal transportation assistance.
• Certifications in CPR and first aid are required; additional certifications like hospice care or geriatrics are advantageous.

Pay: $13.00 - $22.00 per hour
