Role

Responsible for coordinating and strengthening relationships between P1FCU and local nonprofit organizations, civic groups, schools, employers, and community partners within the credit union’s geographic footprint. Works closely with the Business Development team to identify and cultivate relationships with key Centers of Influence (COIs) that support membership growth, community engagement, and strategic partnerships.

Plans, implements, coordinates, and communicates community programs and initiatives that enhance awareness of P1FCU’s mission and presence both internally and externally. Serves as a visible ambassador for P1FCU in the community, representing the credit union at events, meetings, and outreach opportunities.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as a liaison between P1FCU and nonprofit organizations, community groups, employers, city leaders, educational institutions, and human service agencies to build and maintain meaningful partnerships that support community impact and business development objectives.

Maintain extensive knowledge of community organizations, nonprofit initiatives, and events; proactively evaluate sponsorship, engagement, and involvement opportunities and recommend participation that aligns with P1FCU’s strategic goals and community priorities.

Collaborate with the Business Development team to identify and cultivate relationships with key employers, nonprofit leaders, and other Centers of Influence (COIs) that support membership growth, brand awareness, and expanded community reach.

Plan, coordinate, and deliver financial education workshops and outreach presentations to schools, employers, and community groups. Provide one-on-one financial education as appropriate and oversee workshop scheduling and logistics.

Evaluate corporate sponsorship opportunities and provide recommendations based on community impact, strategic alignment, and return on investment for P1FCU.

Identify emerging financial needs within the credit union’s target markets and provide insights and recommendations that support the development or enhancement of products, services, and outreach initiatives.

Represent the credit union at community meetings, nonprofit boards, committees, and local events in order to strengthen relationships and maintain a strong community presence.

Coordinate and manage logistics related to community events, sponsorships, outreach activities, and volunteer initiatives.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

Three to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

Education / Certifications / Licenses

A college degree.


Interpersonal Skills

A high level of trust, diplomacy, and professionalism is required, in addition to strong courtesy and tact. This role involves extensive interaction with internal teams, community partners, nonprofit leaders, employers, and members of the public, often in situations requiring discretion and sound judgment.

The position requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs), community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and partner agencies. Work frequently involves presenting information, representing the credit union in community settings, and fostering partnerships that support both community impact and P1FCU’s strategic objectives.

The ability to effectively communicate, motivate, influence, and educate others is essential. Strong listening skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to navigate complex or sensitive conversations with professionalism are critical.


Other Skills

Must be knowledgeable about local nonprofit organizations, civic groups, educational institutions, and community partners within the P1FCU geographic region.

Demonstrated ability to identify and cultivate relationships with community leaders and Centers of Influence that support the credit union’s outreach and business development efforts.

Strong organizational, planning, and logistical coordination skills are required to effectively manage multiple community initiatives, sponsorships, events, and outreach activities simultaneously.

Must be a proactive problem solver and quick thinker with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to multitask and effectively manage multiple projects, deadlines, and community commitments simultaneously.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, editing skills, and public relations skills are required. Must be comfortable presenting information to groups and representing the credit union in professional and community settings.

Must be proficient with various computer software programs and comfortable working with automated technology. Must be able to type and operate standard office equipment including PCs, telephones, copiers, and calculators. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.

Must be capable of climbing and descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.

Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6–8 hours per day when necessary.

Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management.

Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.


Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Frequent travel within the P1FCU geographic region is required.

Regular attendance at early morning and/or evening community meetings and events is expected.


Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively both individually and as part of a team.

Must demonstrate the ability to think critically and respond quickly to changing situations, priorities, and community needs.

Must be capable of managing multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality.

Must be able to read and carry out written instructions and follow oral instructions.

Must be able to communicate clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.

Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization.

Must demonstrate the highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.

Must be able to maintain composure under pressure in fast-paced environments, during community events, and when responding to time-sensitive requests.

Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
