Seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to support the U.S. Coast Guard’s Civil Engineering Unit in Cleveland. This role provides long-term federal project stability and the opportunity to lead electrical design efforts for facility upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and modernization projects across Coast Guard installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical engineering design for renovations, restorations, and new construction projects.
- Develop complete, biddable design packages, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Conduct site investigations, collect field data, and prepare site visit reports.
- Prepare scopes of work for design, design-build, and construction projects.
- Design and analyze electrical distribution systems, generator and emergency power systems, fire alarm and intrusion systems, and exterior/interior lighting.
- Perform electrical calculations including load studies, arc flash, short circuit, grounding, and NEC compliance.
- Review contractor submittals and provide ongoing technical support during project execution.
- Coordinate with multi-discipline engineering teams and project stakeholders.
- Prepare multiple procurement packages each year for federal facility construction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience with building and facility electrical system design.
- Strong understanding of NEC, power distribution, lighting design, grounding, and protective coordination.
- Ability to prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially with complex technical challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with federal or military facilities.
- Knowledge of fire alarm and security system design.
- Experience with estimating tools and developing construction documents.
- Familiarity with sustainable or energy-efficient electrical design practices.
Work Environment
- Position is based in a federal office building in downtown Cleveland.
- Occasional travel required for site visits.
- Fieldwork may include ladder climbing, inspecting electrical panels, and entering mechanical or confined spaces.
- Up to three telework days per week may be authorized depending on mission needs.
Salary : $45 - $55
