Oxford Solutions is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for a 6- to 12-month contract opportunity with a technology organization developing safety-critical systems for the transportation industry. This hybrid position requires candidates to currently reside in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing embedded software in C for real-time environments. You will contribute to onboard software applications used in highly regulated, safety-focused systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software using C
- Support onboard, real-time software applications
- Translate system and engineering requirements into reliable software solutions
- Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, debugging, and integration testing
- Troubleshoot complex software and hardware interaction issues
- Develop software in accordance with safety-critical engineering standards and processes
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, validation, and engineering teams
- Create and maintain technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle
Qualifications
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 5-8 years of professional software development experience using C
- Expert-level proficiency in Embedded C
- Strong experience developing software for real-time embedded systems
- Experience with onboard, transportation, industrial control, aerospace, defense, automotive, or other safety-critical systems is preferred
- Familiarity with structured software development, testing, verification, and configuration management practices
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
- Must currently reside within commuting distance of Pittsburgh, PA
