Job Summary
Job Summary
Under direction and general supervision of the Executive Director or assigned supervisor, provides leadership, management and coordination of the human resources functions and is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and directing all aspects of the operation of Human Resources for personnel, including, but not limited to, recruitment and selection; administration of compensation, benefits and payroll; managing the credentialing process, including communicating with colleges and universities; managing employee relations and conducting personnel investigations; responding to workers’ compensation and EDD claims; conducting STRS, PERS and other audits, and complying with California employment and charter school laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Serves as a member of the Executive Director's cabinet. Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Leads management team members in their understanding of the laws related to personnel, and provides updates on staffing needs; as well as, provide training on the interpretations/adherence of employment agreement language and the employee handbook. Develops, revises, and maintains all job descriptions for the charter school organization. Coordinates the development, presentation and tracking of in-service programs for employees in the areas of employment management, onboarding, sexual harassment, mandated reporter, suicide prevention and other trainings. Keeps informed of current trends in communications, public relations, public and other pertinent areas, such as employment and charter school regulations, policies, and procedures, including federal, state, and local laws. Prepares and posts position vacancies and promotional opportunities; leads the recruitment process, including conducting interviews panels. Responds to inquiries from charter school personnel and the general public in a timely and customer-focused manner and refers them to appropriate personnel.
Requirements / Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in human resources management, business, public administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Certification such as PHR (SHRM-CP), SPHR (SHRM-SCP), or California Employment Law Micro-Credential desirable. A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible human resources generalist and management experience, ideally in the education sector, including public contact and credential application experience.
