Oxford Public Schools is looking for a dynamic educator to ignite student curiosity in the area of STEM.
Applicants must hold current CT State certification in one or more of the following areas: Math (029), Science (030, 031, 032, 033, 034), Computer Science (110) and/or Technology Education (047)
- Middle school experience preferred.
- Support the design and implementation of a robust, project-based curriculum that serves as an engaging elective experience for all students in grades 6-8.
- Facilitates the instruction and oversight in the use of varied instructional technologies, including CAD software, 3D printing, robotics, computer programming and other technologies related to engineering.
- Guides students through the Engineering Design Process to solve real-world problems, emphasizing the transition from scientific hypothesis to iterative prototyping and testing.
- Effectively manages the learning environment to optimize student learning and engagement to meet the needs of all students.
- Creates an atmosphere conducive to exploration, innovation, and learning, while maintaining the physical condition and organization of the classroom and materials.
- Demonstrates expertise in laboratory safety and management, overseeing the use of scientific instruments and consumables while maintaining a secure environment for high-engagement, kinetic learning.
- Reviews, selects, and acquires tools and technology to accommodate different learning styles and promote student engagement.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues to improve the learning of all students; ability to positively engage students and families in the learning process.
- Proactive, flexible team player and effective communicator.
- Other duties as determined by the principal.
