What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long Term Nurse Substitute position at Oxford Middle School?
Oxford Middle School is seeking a long term nurse substitute with an anticipated start date of approximately 2/2/25 through 5/8/25. Interested & qualified candidates who enjoy working with students in grades 6-8 are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications:
- Must be an RN.
- Currently licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Health.
- Current certification in CPR
- The ability to assess and evaluate the health status of each student in order to make a nursing diagnosis and establish a health plan.
- The ability to interpret the health status and medical findings to the student, parent and staff responsible for the child.
- The ability to recommend to the administration modifications in the educational program for a student due to changes in the student’s health or medical status.
- Excellent communication skills to serve as liaison between the parents, school and community in health matters.
- Knowledge of and experience in performing health screenings
- The ability to observe students, as needed, to detect health problems/issues.
- Excellent organizational skills needed to maintain cumulative health records on all students.
- The ability to assume responsibility to render emergency care to a student or staff member when injured or ill.
- The ability to review and recommend revisions in school nursing policies and procedures.
