POSITION SUMMARY
The Investment Analyst will support the Investment Management Group by assisting in portfolio construction, asset allocation recommendations, investment manager due diligence, creation and maintenance of investment reports, and development of client communication materials. Participate in special data analysis projects as needed. This position is located onsite in our Minneapolis, MN office.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Investment Due Diligence
- Gather, organize, and maintain data on existing and prospective investments across equity, fixed income, and hedge fund asset classes.
- Conduct initial research screens and perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of investment managers.
- Prepare manager and portfolio review reports in Morningstar.
- Prepare investment memos and presentations for investment committees as well as manager summaries and presentations for Managing Directors and clients.
Investment Research & Reporting
- Create charts, commentary and materials to communicate the investment team outlook and positioning.
- Source and distributes key market data (S&P sector reports, index returns, etc.)
- Develop and maintain investment strategy profiles.
- Produce customized analysis for clients and presentations using PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Investment Management Group Support
- Assist in developing capital market assumptions and asset class valuations reports.
- Support research content development for the firm’s Defined Contribution business.
- Support client team in business development and client services requests.
- Participate in investment sub-committees; contribute to agendas, meeting materials and meeting minutes.
Other
- Maintains and updates the Investment Research intranet site
- Review enhance Investment research policies and procedures
- Asset allocation modeling
- Assists with various research projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS/BA degree in Finance, Business, or related field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required. Experience with Morningstar Direct and Bloomberg preferred.
- Basic understanding of investments and capital markets
- 0 – 4 years of relevant investment experience preferred
- Entry-level candidates without professional experience must demonstrate comparable exposure via student-managed funds, investment club leadership, internships, capstone/study projects or relevant coursework
- Progress towards CFA designation preferred, but not required
- High level of professionalism with the utmost respect for confidential matters
- Ability to work independently, proactively, and collaboratively
- Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
