Position Summary
The Assistant Group Fitness Programming Manager will lead the launch, development, and ongoing success of Oxford’s Signature branded group fitness programs. This role will design and create exclusive class formats, write class descriptions, recruit and hire instructors, provide initial and ongoing training, and ensure high-quality delivery of group fitness experiences. The Group Fitness Programming Manager will also manage schedule programming, monitor class quality through audits, champion member participation, and personally teach select Signature classes to model excellence and engage members.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Development & Branding
- Create and design Oxford Signature class formats, standards, and branded experiences.
- Write and maintain class descriptions, ensuring consistent tone and alignment with Oxford’s brand.
- Evolve offerings regularly to keep the program fresh, competitive, and innovative.
- Instructor Recruitment & Training
- Recruit, hire, and onboard a team of talented group fitness instructors.
- Develop and deliver initial instructor training and ongoing education programs.
- Lead regular workshops and refresher sessions to ensure quality and consistency across all Signature classes.
- Schedule Programming Management & Quality Assurance
- Collaborate with GF Manager on schedule programming, ensuring offerings meet member needs and club objectives.
- Audit classes regularly to maintain consistency, quality, and adherence to Oxford Signature standards.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve class formats, teaching standards, and member engagement.
- Member Engagement & Leadership
- Champion Signature classes by encouraging members to attend and participate in events.
- Serve as a visible leader, being front and center at classes and events to model excellence and inspire participation.
- Personally teach select Oxford Signature classes to maintain a direct connection with members and staff.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Analyze participation data and member feedback to measure program success.
- Provide reports on class attendance, trends, and instructor performance to inform ongoing programming decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience in group fitness programming, leadership, or studio/club management.
- Proven ability to design and deliver innovative class formats.
- Strong background in instructor training, coaching, and development.
- Nationally recognized group fitness certification (ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM, or equivalent) required.
- CPR/AED certification required.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
