What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Oxbo?
The Buyer position is a hands-on position that requires someone to be able to work tactically (with a high volume of daily purchase requests and needs) as well as strategically (with ongoing ISO-related strategic responsibilities.) The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of day to day production materials (sheet metal, hydraulics, electric components, etc.), shop supplies, building & grounds services, and capital equipment (as needed).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Negotiate cost, delivery, logistics and transportation for materials used in the production process.
- Review MRP requirements generated by whole good and parts demand.
- Create and confirm purchase orders based on MRP requirements.
- Manage planning data to include supplier information, lead-time, economic order quantities and order policies.
- Manage all purchasing action message reports associated with assigned supplier base.
- Develop annual operating and cost savings goals to support corporate strategic initiatives.
- Execute quoting process for all new numbers, maintenance items and identified cost savings opportunities.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Procurement and/or supply chain planning experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- CPSM certification a plus.
- Negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
- Knowledge of QAD, ERP or MRP systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
- Ability to work with a team and independently.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
