Description:

Summary:

The Quality Technician supports the Quality Engineer and manufacturing team by performing inspections, collecting and analyzing quality data, and assisting in maintaining quality systems. This role ensures products meet specifications through hands-on verification, documentation, and support of corrective actions. The position plays a key role in daily quality control activities and continuous improvement initiatives in the production of agricultural equipment.

Principle Duties and Areas of Responsibility:

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify conformance to drawings, specifications, and quality standards
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs (if applicable)
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T, to validate product quality
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records
  • Support containment activities for nonconforming materials, including segregation, labeling, and documentation
  • Assist Quality Engineer with root cause investigations using tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone
  • Participate in corrective and preventive action activities and help verify effectiveness
  • Monitor shop floor processes for compliance with quality standards and control plans
  • Perform audits of processes, workstations, and documentation as required
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities
  • Assist in maintaining inspection plans, control plans, and work instructions
  • Collect and compile quality data (scrap, rework, defects) for reporting and analysis
  • Communicate quality concerns to production and engineering teams in a timely manner
  • Support supplier quality activities as directed, including receiving inspections and issue documentation
  • Maintain gauges and measurement equipment, ensuring calibration requirements are met
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Adhere to company quality standards, procedures, and safety protocols
  • Perform duties in an ethical and professional manner consistent with company policies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Skills and Abilities:


  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, welding, machining, paint and assembly
  • Familiarity with inspection techniques and measurement tools
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and specifications
  • Basic understanding of root cause analysis and problem-solving methods
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, and engineers
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience in manufacturing/quality
  • 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or quality inspection/technician role preferred
  • Experience in agricultural equipment, heavy equipment, or metal fabrication manufacturing preferred
  • Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions
