What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Mill Machinist position at OWSI?
Oil Well Survey Instrument is in the process of adding to a great team of manufacturing professionals. We are one of the oldest machine shops in Houston with a proven track record of success and excellence. Within our 30,000 square foot climate controlled facility we manufacture parts and accessories for the oil/gas and aerospace industries. We are in need of DAY SHIFT and NIGHT SHIFT with great experience, knowledge, and talent. Experience and knowledge of 5-Axis CNC milling is a plus.
CNC MILL Machinists will be responsible for:
- Operating CNC milling machines safely and accurately.
- Make appropriate adjustments to CNC machines, and programs as needed.
- Reading engineering blueprints, and using precision measuring equipment to confirm accuracy of programs and machining.
- Inspecting parts as they are machined for accuracy and precision.
- Complete job/tooling setup with little to no supervision.
- Prepare tooling/fixturing for each job.
- Ability to accurately set up a job efficiently and accurately.
- Maintaining a healthy and clean work environment.
- Follow company production procedures.
CNC Machinist REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience and knowledge of 3, 4 (& 5) Axis CNC milling.
- Knowledge of Okuma , Fanuc, HAAS controls.
- Ability to machine parts with tolerances down to .0005".
- Ability to use measurement/inspection tools required for dimensional checks during machining process.
- Ability to complete part setups accurately and efficiently.
- Strong knowledge of machine cutting tools (drills, endmills, boring bars, inserted cutters, etc.....)
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- MUST HAVE OWN TOOLS.
(PAY RANGE IS DEPENDENT UPON EXPERIENCE)

Pay: $20.00 - $31.00 per hour
