What are the responsibilities and job description for the PA Pre K Counts Assistant/Floater Teacher position at Owl Hill Learning Academy?
Pre K Counts assistant/Floater /6 hours/day Monday to Friday.
- Education (must have one of the following)
- High School Diploma or GED and 30 credits from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services field
- High School Diploma or GED and 600 or more hours of secondary training from DHS approved school
- High School Diploma or GED and 15 credits from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services field and 1 year of experience with children
- High School Diploma or GED and completion of an approved post-secondary training curriculum
- High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience with children
- Personal
- Interest in children and willingness to learn
- References and recommendations
- Able to relate well to children and adults
- Current health appraisal
- Current Clearances
Basic Function
- The Assistant teacher will work with and support the lead teacher in all aspects of center activities to ensure the learning, health, safety and general well-being of the children in their care.
Performance Responsibilities
- Should include but not limited to:
- Assisting in the implementation of the daily activities under the guidance of the lead teacher
- Helping to supervise the children during all activities
- Talking and actively playing with the children at appropriate times
- Leading the group when the teacher is not present
- Setting up breakfast, lunch and snack
- Cleaning and sanitizing the tables after meals
- Helping children with their hygiene (hand washing, toileting, diapering, etc.)
- Taking all trash from the room to the dumpster at the end of their shift
- Ensuring the safety of the children at all times
- Maintaining the playground and/or pavilion as needed
- Treating each child with dignity and respect
- Maintaining discipline by following center policies
- Maintaining a positive relationship with the parents through effective communication
- Attending mandatory staff meetings
- Cooperating with parents, staff and other adults to ensure the children’s needs are met
- Attending mandatory trainings and certifications
Physical Demands
- Medium lifting, up to 50 pounds
- Activity including but not limited to: climbing, balancing, kneeling, stooping, crawling, sitting and standing
- Activity including but not limited to: reaching, handling and feeling
Organizational Responsibilities
- The Assistant reports to the Lead teacher and/or the Director
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
