What are the responsibilities and job description for the SALES MANAGER position at Owen Industries?
High Alloy Steel Casting Sales Representative | Hybrid Inside/Outside
Location: Wahoo, NE
Sell a Specialty Product. Build Real Industry Relationships.
Omaha Steel is a recognized leader in the steel industry, and we're growing. We're looking for a High Alloy Steel Casting Sales Representative to join our foundry division — a hybrid role that blends account management, technical consultation, and field-based business development.
This is a role for someone who understands the language of metallurgy and manufacturing, can earn the trust of engineers and procurement teams alike, and knows how to turn technical knowledge into long-term customer partnerships.
What You'll Do
- Develop and manage a portfolio of new and existing accounts requiring high alloy steel castings across industrial markets including oil & gas, mining, power generation, chemical processing, and heavy equipment
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers from initial inquiry through order fulfillment — quoting, order entry, production coordination, and delivery follow-up
- Conduct field visits to customer facilities to assess needs, present capabilities, and strengthen relationships
- Collaborate with the foundry engineering and production teams to ensure customer specifications, tolerances, and alloy requirements are clearly understood and achievable
- Prepare and present technical proposals and quotes tailored to customer application requirements
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within target markets and industries
- Monitor and report on market trends, competitor activity, and pricing to inform sales strategy
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to close, including negotiating pricing and contract terms within approved margins
- Work with purchasing and production planning to align customer delivery expectations with foundry capacity
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, quotes, and opportunities in CRM
What We're Looking For
- 3–6 years of sales experience in a foundry, casting, or metals-related environment — high alloy or specialty metals experience strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of steel casting processes, alloy grades (stainless, duplex, nickel-based, chrome-moly, etc.), and their industrial applications
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and material standards (ASTM, ASME, etc.)
- Proven track record of managing and growing a technical sales territory
- Strong technical communication skills — you can translate complex metallurgical requirements into clear customer solutions
- Comfortable with both office-based account management and field travel
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CRM and ERP experience a plus
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage a pipeline independently
- Professional, customer-first attitude with a genuine drive to exceed targets
What's In It For You
- Hybrid role — blend of in-office account management and field-based sales
- Health, Dental & Vision insurance
- Life/AD&D and Short & Long-Term Disability coverage
- 401(k) with company match
- PTO and 9 paid holidays — accrual begins immediately
- Wellness program with premium incentives
- Support for continuing certifications and professional development
- Opportunities for career growth within Owen Industries
- A well-established company with a strong reputation and an expanding foundry division
Benefits begin the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.
