Field Engineer – Communication and Electronics
Owen Daniels is proud to partner with a provider of advanced maritime technology, with specific expertise in autonomous/uncrewed surface vessels for defense and commercial applications. They are an established global business, expanding operations to Virginia Beach.
As part of this expansion, they are looking for an Experienced Field Engineer with expertise in communication and electronic systems.
Summary
The role sits within the Mission Success team, taking ownership for the communication and electronic systems – networks and interfaces across sensors, autonomy systems and operator consoles. You will undertake rigorous pre-mission checks to ensure vessels perform to customer requirements, while providing technical feedback to engineering to improve reliability/supportability.
Key Responsibilities
- Support deployment, recovery and launch operations for platforms, antennas and control stations as part of the Mission Success team.
- Configure and maintain LOS/BLOS communications/networks for trials, training and demonstrations.
- Monitor link performance, diagnose issues and implement fixes to maintain reliable command, control and data connectivity.
- Integrate and configure sensors, telemetry and electronic subsystems on vessel and shore side networks.
- Maintain electronic control systems and interfaces to autonomy, control and payload software.
- Support power distribution to communications and electronic systems.
- Assist with electrical fault finding that impact craft performance, communications, networking or control station equipment.
- Prepare and validate communications and electronic configurations for each deployment, ensuring end to end connectivity.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Experience with RF communication (LOS/BLOS) and networking
- Experienced with field environment communication systems
- Ability to work in maritime and field-based environments
- Ability to travel for operational deployments
