Job Summary:
Overland Park Respiratory & Rehab Center is seeking a motivated and experienced Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) to lead our therapy department.
The Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and management of therapy services throughout the facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, appropriate staffing, accurate documentation, timely billing, and strong communication between the therapy team, nursing department, administration, residents, and families.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong long-term care, skilled nursing, or sub-acute rehabilitation experience. This individual should have sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to build, support, and hold accountable a high-performing therapy team.
Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and support the day-to-day operations of the therapy department.
Supervise, orient, train, evaluate, and coach therapy department employees to maintain high standards of performance, professionalism, and resident care.
Assign resident scheduling and departmental responsibilities to therapy staff as needed.
Ensure therapy services are delivered in accordance with physician orders, resident care plans, facility policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
Monitor therapy documentation to ensure accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and appropriate support for services provided.
Ensure therapists and therapy assistants remain compliant with documentation requirements, treatment standards, and facility expectations.
Communicate effectively with facility administration regarding department performance, staffing needs, clinical programs, goals, risks, opportunities, and outcomes.
Collaborate with nursing, MDS, admissions, social services, and other interdisciplinary team members to support resident care and facility operations.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of therapy-related MDS information.
Ensure timely and accurate billing of therapy services provided, including completion of all required supporting documentation.
Maintain the quality and consistency of therapy services throughout the facility.
Support resident and family communication regarding therapy progress, goals, and discharge planning as appropriate.
Promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture within the rehabilitation department.
Requirements:
Current Physical Therapist (PT) or Occupational Therapist (OT) license in the state of Kansas.
Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or sub-acute rehabilitation setting preferred.
Prior leadership, management, or Director of Rehabilitation experience strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of therapy documentation, Medicare requirements, MDS processes, and skilled nursing facility operations.
Ability to lead teams, communicate effectively, solve problems, manage competing priorities, and maintain high standards of care.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively with administration, nursing, residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.

Salary Range: $50-$55 hourly, based on experience.
