JOB SUMMARY
The Overhead Door Company of Daytona Beach is seeking an experienced Commercial Garage Door Installer/Technician who is dependable, reliable, and a self-starter.
The Commercial Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional installation and service of commercial overhead doors, operators, and related equipment. This position works as part of an install/service crew (or independently on smaller jobs) to deliver high-quality work that meets manufacturer specifications, building codes, and our standards for craftsmanship and customer service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation & Service Work:
- Diagnose issues and carry out solutions on commercial overhead doors and correlating equipment
- Install and service a variety of commercial products, including sectional doors, rolling steel, fire doors, high-speed doors, security grilles, roll shutters, bifold doors, and dock equipment
- Install, wire, and program commercial garage door operators and accessories
- Tension and adjust torsion springs, cables, and hardware safely and to manufacturer specs
- Test installed/serviced doors for smooth operation, proper balance, and safety function before leaving the job site
- Evaluate appropriate commercial door and installation/service requirements for each job
Job Site & Customer Interaction:
- Arrive on time, in uniform, and prepared with the materials and tools required for the day's jobs
- Coordinate with the scheduler on problem-solving and required parts
- Drive safely and efficiently from customer to customer
- Walk customers through completed work and answer questions professionally
- Coordinate with general contractors, builders, and other trades on commercial job sites
- Represent the company professionally at all times
Administrative & Vehicle:
- Document completed work, materials used, and customer signatures in ServiceTitan field software
- Maintain assigned company vehicle in clean, organized, and operational condition
- Conduct vehicle inspections and report mechanical issues promptly
- Keep truck inventory stocked, accurately tracked, and replenished through the warehouse process
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and DOT regulations
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates need to:
- Have a Florida Driver's License with 3 or less points over the last 2 years
- Have reliable transportation to and from work for shifts starting at 6 a.m.
- Pass a Drug Screen, DMV, and Background check
- Be able to lift a minimum of 100 lbs.
- Show good customer service and communicate clearly in a respectful manner
- Have mechanical aptitude with the ability to climb ladders, work from heights, and operate hand tools
- Experience installing Sectional, Rolling Steel, Fire Doors, High Speed Doors, Security Grilles and Roll Shutters.
Preferred (not required):
- Electrical experience
- Ability to weld
- Safety certifications (OSHA Fall Protection, OSHA Elevated Work Platform, Standard First Aid)
- Experience with ServiceTitan or comparable field service software
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly lift and carry a minimum of 100 lbs.
- Frequently climb ladders, operate forklifts, and operate scissor lifts
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and reach overhead
- Work in confined spaces as needed
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including Florida heat and humidity
- Use of company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) is required
