Outten & Golden LLP is seeking a Litigation Technology Specialist in our New York office. The Litigation Technology Specialist is a consultative technical expert who drives innovation, efficiency, and technological excellence across the Firm’s litigation practices. This role supports a wide spectrum of practice technology needs—including eDiscovery, AI-powered workflows, data analysis, Excel-based project support, and process improvement.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with eDiscovery counsel, eDiscovery specialists, attorneys, paralegals, IT and clients, the person in this role provides strategic guidance, hands-on project leadership, and training across litigation technology platforms, AI tools, document review systems and advanced predictive coding technologies, case management tools, trial technology, and emerging legal-tech applications. This position is designed for a professional who is equally comfortable leading complex eDiscovery matters and building innovative workflows that enhance attorney and staff productivity across the Firm.


Litigation Technology & Practice Support

§ Serve as a primary resource for practice-wide technology support, including litigation applications, AI-enhanced innovation and workflows, and process optimization.

§ Assist case teams and Firm staff with various needs related to practice applications and litigation cases, including but not limited to eDiscovery, Excel, and Copilot support.

§ Collaborate with practice groups to identify opportunities to apply new or existing technologies; conduct research on emerging tools and recommend adoption where appropriate.


eDiscovery & Litigation Support

§ Lead complex eDiscovery, litigation support, and case management projects amongst several practice offices with a consultative approach, ensuring strategic planning, defined workflows, and quality control; work directly with the Director of Litigation Technology to identify and provide technical solutions to the legal staff.

§ Manage all technical discovery and trial aspects of individual cases as assigned, serving as a liaison between vendors and case teams and clients to facilitate the application of Firm best practices and timely, efficient, and defensible completion of projects.

§ Participate in and/or conduct project meetings with case teams (consisting of attorneys, paralegals, clients, and vendors) to ascertain project requirements, provide options, and recommend solutions; work to define project scope, delivery timing, and budgeting support; prepare meeting summaries, vendor instructions, status reports, training materials, and other associated documentation as necessary for the successful completion of a project.

§ Provide data management services such as processing/loading data into database applications, loading images into image viewing applications, creating deliverable media, building production sets, and maintaining databases.

§ Work closely with case teams and clients to coordinate the preservation, collection, processing, review, and production of case-related ESI; must be ready to implement the most appropriate Electronic Discovery processing solution while adapting to the nuances of the ESI, the client, the budget, and the project's demands.

§ Manage vendors to ensure high-quality data deliverables and services are provided within negotiated schedules and budgets; review deliverables before shipment to confirm that they meet the specifications; and works with the Director of Litigation Technology to negotiate pricing with vendors.

§ Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of practice technology applications, including but not limited to the back-end support of Nuix, Syllo, CaseMap, TextMap, TimeMap, and Trial Director; prepare functional and technical specifications for client/server-based practice support applications; and solve litigation-support-related user problems routed from the Help Desk.

§ Provide ongoing user support via telephone, online, and/or office visits.

§ Develop technical documentation and workflow playbooks for the practice technology teams as well as for the users, including best practices, data tracking, and quality-control procedures.

§ Responsible for direct/indirect communications with case teams/clients regarding ongoing project status, overall progress towards completion, budget oversight regarding electronic data discovery/document review, and recommendations when project adjustment/deviation is necessary.

§ Maintain expert-level knowledge of the Firm's standard litigation-support application suites and related best practices, including attending industry-focused CLE courses.

§ Prepare departmental statistical reports.

§ Participate in long-range planning and needs assessment for paralegal and practice support staffing in the office.

§ Adhere to Firm policies, practices, and priorities.

§ Perform other duties as requested.


Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a combination of employment, educational, and life experience that demonstrates the qualities and skills below:

§ Education and Experience: You have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience within the legal industry. Prior experience in an eDiscovery role is required. The successful candidate possesses knowledge and competence in understanding of eDiscovery best practices, including preservation, collection, culling, processing, review, and production protocols. Experience using Nuix Discover, Syllo, CaseMap, TextMap, TimeMap and Trial Director; hands-on experience with GenAI/LLMs (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to augment and streamline legal and eDiscovery service delivery and workflows; advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency for data analysis, reporting, and workflow automation; and experience using TextEditor tools such as NotePad , UltraEdit, and TextPad for data manipulation.

§ Clear Communication and Attention to Detail: You express yourself clearly and concisely, both written and verbally, always highlighting the most important information. You proactively communicate the status of your work and share updates with colleagues when necessary. You ensure that your work is mistake free.

§ Confidentiality: You must be able to adhere to Firm policies regarding the protection of confidential data and demonstrate sensitivity to (and good judgment in connection with) confidential attorney, personnel, and Firm matters.

§ Flexibility and Organization: You are versatile and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. You are comfortable in an environment where your responsibilities may vary from day to day. You demonstrate a “no job too big, no job too small” attitude, and take a collaborative, team-focused approach to rejuggling priorities and contributing to Firm tasks. You are comfortable balancing tasks of varying levels of urgency and complexity and work well under pressure with tight deadlines.

§ Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Compensation: An attractive compensation package (tailored to experience), with a target base compensation of $38.00-$58.00 / hour (nonexempt, 40 hours per week; annualizes to approximately $79,040-$120,640 / year).
