Position Overview

We are seeking a polished, hospitality-driven Makeup Artist / Sales Associate to deliver elevated client experiences within our NYC flagship luxury boutique. This role is ideal for a beauty professional who is passionate about makeup artistry, skincare, fragrance, and personalized service.

The Makeup Artist / Sales Associate serves as both a brand ambassador and trusted beauty advisor, creating meaningful client connections through expert product knowledge, artistry, and thoughtful hospitality. The ideal candidate is warm, detail-oriented, highly collaborative, and thrives within a luxury retail and experiential environment.

Core Responsibilities

Client Experience

• Deliver personalized, elevated service that reflects the brand’s luxury standards and service philosophy
• Build authentic relationships with clients through thoughtful consultation and clienteling
• Create welcoming, engaging, and memorable in-store experiences
• Anticipate client needs while offering tailored beauty, skincare, fragrance, and body care recommendations
• Support long-term client retention through follow-up communication and relationship-building

Makeup Artistry & Product Expertise

• Provide makeup applications, beauty consultations, shade matching, and product education
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of cosmetics, skincare, fragrance, and beauty trends
• Educate clients on product usage, routines, ingredients, and self-care rituals
• Maintain exceptional sanitation and hygiene standards for all artistry tools and services
• Support in-store events, brand activations, and beauty-focused client experiences

Sales & Boutique Support

• Achieve individual and team sales goals while delivering an elevated customer experience
• Support key business metrics including conversion, average transaction value, and client retention
• Assist with merchandising, replenishment, and maintaining luxury presentation standards
• Support daily boutique operations including opening/closing procedures, cash wrap, and inventory tasks
• Maintain strong product knowledge across all categories and seasonal launches

Team & Brand Culture

• Embody the brand’s luxury positioning, aesthetics, and values
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, service-driven environment
• Contribute to a culture centered around hospitality, artistry, inclusivity, and professionalism
• Participate in ongoing product education and training initiatives

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience within luxury beauty, cosmetics, skincare, fragrance, or boutique retail environments
• Professional makeup artistry experience strongly preferred
• Passion for beauty, wellness, hospitality, and client experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly client-focused environment
• Strong attention to detail and visual presentation
• Weekend availability is required, including support during peak retail periods, events, and activations
• Flexible availability including evenings and holidays

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within luxury beauty or high-touch retail environments
• Experience supporting or participating in in-store events and client activations
• Existing clientele or strong clienteling abilities preferred
• Knowledge of skincare ingredients, fragrance, and beauty application techniques
• Esthetics or cosmetology certification is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Comfortable performing customer-facing and operational tasks throughout the day
