Outreach Uganda is looking for a reliable and organized person who can help us with general office work. This will include handling correspondence, filing, shipping web orders, running errands, and tagging and organizing our inventory of fair trade crafts including paper beads. We especially need someone who can regularly work some hours each week. The ideal match is someone who can commit to a consistent day and time frame every week for the 3 month period.
October to November is when we have a lot of tasks to do involving tagging, organizing and pricing our fair trade craft products and getting them packed for events and for sale at a local artisan marketplace as well as for shipments for customer orders. There is still some work relative sponsorship related tasks such as processing sponsorship paperwork and assembling packets, we help make sure more Ugandan children get sponsors so they can go to school. There is a lot of paperwork needing assembled and copied. Working with data entry on a computer is a plus as you could help us with fulfilling craft orders through our web site.
Income-generation activities include
- provision of internal revolving loan funds
- marketing of the Ugandan women's craft products in the U.S. and Canada
- business development assistance
- cash crop agriculture activities
- scholarship and sponsorship programs for over 200 children
- girls' education initiative program to keep young girls in school
- training programs for women as well as teachers
- partnering with a northern Uganda community on its primary school which has over 500 students and 18 teachers and 9 support staff
- partnering with a northern Uganda community on a clinic serving over 5000 people
- assisting our Jinja women's group with a home building program to provide women a decent place to live where they can move out of the slums and stabilize their lives
