Pay: $41,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year (depending on experience)
Hours: 7:30-3:30pm plus two days commitment working in our aftercare program 3:30-5:30pm. Additional pay available for these hours.
Job description:
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School, a Catholic school dedicated to academic excellence and
spiritual formation, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle School ELA (English Language Arts)
Teacher. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator who can inspire a love for reading and
writing in students while also serving as a faith role model within our vibrant Catholic community.
Key Responsibilities:
● Instruction: Develop and implement a rigorous ELA curriculum for grades 6-8, focusing on reading
comprehension, literary analysis, grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills.
● Curriculum & Planning: Create engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and are
enhanced by a Catholic worldview.
● Assessment: Administer various assessments to track student progress, provide constructive
feedback, and inform instruction.
● Classroom Environment: Foster a positive, structured, and faith-filled classroom environment that
promotes academic growth and personal development.
● Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and parents to support student
success and contribute to the school's mission.
● Parent Communication: Maintain regular and proactive communication with parents/guardians
regarding student performance, academic progress, and behavior.
● Record Keeping: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student grades, attendance, and
communication logs as required by school policy.
Catholic Faith and Mission:
● Faith Integration: Weave Catholic values and moral principles into daily lessons and discussions,
particularly through the analysis of literature and media.
● Spiritual Leadership: Lead students in daily prayer, participate in school liturgies and
retreats, and serve as a living example of the Catholic faith.
● Community: Actively support and advance the school's Catholic identity and mission both inside
and outside the classroom.
Qualifications:
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field. A Master's degree is
preferred.
● Certification: Valid state teaching certification; an ELA or Middle School endorsement is
preferred.
● Experience: Previous experience teaching middle school students is highly desired.
● Faith Commitment: Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, committed to the spiritual and
academic formation of our students.
● Skills: Strong knowledge of middle school ELA pedagogy, excellent communication skills, and a
commitment to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment.
