Position Summary:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) evaluates and treats residents to promote independence and safety in daily living skills. The OT develops individualized care plans, provides interventions, and educates residents and caregivers to maximize functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate residents’ functional abilities and develop treatment plans.
- Provide therapy to improve independence in ADLs, mobility, and use of adaptive equipment.
- Collaborate with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs).
- Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary meetings.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT) in the state of Rhode Island.
- Graduate of an accredited OT program.
- Previous experience in geriatric care preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teaching skills.
Work Environment:
- Skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.
- Requires hands-on resident care, creativity, and adaptability.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as part of resident care and equipment handling requirements.
