Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Orthopedic Technician/Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team full time. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, a strong commitment to teamwork, and a positive attitude that contributes to our friendly and collaborative work environment. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for pediatric care and a desire to make a difference in the lives of our young patients.
Experience and Education: High School diploma or equivalent, plus 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant. Certification as a Medical Assistant and/ or Orthopedic Technician is a plus but not required.
The person we are looking for must be able to multi-task and work efficiently during high volume peaks and also function as a team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
Job Functions:
- Provides application of splints and casts.
- Provides brace fitting and molding, with patient instruction of use and care.
- Obtains insurance authorizations for orthopedic devices as dictated by insurance.
- Orders special patient equipment.
- Performs telephone triage of cast, splint, wound problems.
- Provides patient education when appropriate.
- Sets up equipment/supplies and assists with surgical procedures in office.
- Participates in sterile techniques and procedures.
- Assists in scheduling of diagnostic testing as needed.
- Maintains inventory as needed.
- Assists surgery scheduling in ordering specialty items.
- Receives vendors and evaluates new products.
- Disposes of contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines.
- Stocks and maintains cast rooms.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Attends all regular meetings.
- Performs all tasks or projects as assigned by Clinic Manager or Providers.
- Computer literate, with keyboard skills.
- Good communication skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour
