What are the responsibilities and job description for the eCommerce Marketplace Specialist – Amazon & Retail Marketplaces position at Ottomanson Inc?
About the Role
Ottomanson is seeking a hands-on eCommerce Marketplace Specialist to support day-to-day marketplace activities across Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Lowe’s, and Wayfair.
Amazon is our largest online channel, so experience with Amazon Vendor Central, Seller Central, and Amazon Ads is especially valuable.
This is a mid-level role for someone who can work independently with marketplace reports, advertising, product listings, catalog issues, and performance data. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, detail-oriented, and persistent when resolving marketplace issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day marketplace management across Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Lowe’s, and Wayfair.
- Assist with Amazon Ads and other marketplace advertising by reviewing campaign, keyword, search-term, and product-level performance and making optimization recommendations.
- Review PDPs, variation structures, new-item setups, and catalog issues; coordinate corrections and verify changes after they go live.
- Analyze sales, traffic, conversion, advertising, and product performance to identify unusual trends, underperforming items, and growth opportunities.
- Review marketplace search results, competitor listings, customer search behavior, and reviews to identify opportunities for better positioning, content, imagery, keywords, or additional use cases.
- Monitor important products, including Best Sellers and successful new launches, for inventory risk or other issues that could interrupt sales momentum.
- Track and follow up on marketplace cases, paused products, listing issues, and other open tasks through resolution.
- Support new product launches, promotions, creator or sampling initiatives, and other marketplace growth projects.
- Assist management with customer or product-quality escalations by gathering relevant information and identifying recurring issues that may require content, product, or operational changes.
- Prepare Excel-based reports and performance summaries for management and flag issues that require higher-level commercial decisions.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of eCommerce or marketplace experience preferred.
- Experience with Amazon Vendor Central and/or Seller Central strongly preferred.
- Hands-on Amazon Ads experience preferred.
- Experience with marketplace catalogs, listings, variations, and new-product launches.
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- Strong organization, follow-through, and problem-solving ability.
- Comfortable working independently and escalating issues when appropriate.
- Experience with Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Wayfair, or similar marketplaces is a plus.
- Experience with home goods or another large-SKU consumer-products business is a plus.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is proactive, curious, and willing to investigate problems rather than simply process assigned tasks.
If a product loses sales, a listing looks incorrect, an ad campaign begins overspending, or a marketplace change creates an opportunity, we want someone who will look into the issue, gather the relevant information, and bring forward a recommended next step.
Strong follow-through is especially important. Opening a case, sending an email, or assigning a task is not considered completion; important issues should be followed through and verified.
